Real Time Email Response Messages with Campaign
Enterprise
This powerful feature of Campaign Enterprise
provides a lot of benefits for the mass email
marketer looking to automate requests coming from
the email message recipient.
The real time email response message, affectionately
called RTER, is useful for sending personalized
information to the requestor automatically, including
additionally requested information, coupons, or
usernames and passwords -- all based on information
stored in the database. When the recipient clicks
on a click-through tracking link with an RTER
message attached, Campaign Enterprise sends the
response email message as soon as the click-through
records.
Configuring and types of RTER messages
To configure a RTER email message, edit a campaign,
click on the Click-Throughs tab and select the
advanced feature set.
- Select a click-through
link with which to associate the response, and
click "Add."
- Enter a name for
the RTER.
- Add an HTML, Plain
Text or both for the body of the message.
- Use merge fields
to personalize the RTER.
- Click "Save."
- Click "Save Settings."
Use the same RTER over again, or create a new
one for each click through link.
Additional information requests
Rather than piling too much information into an
email, link your additional information using
click through links. That way the user can decide
which additional information they will receive,
based on their interests. The user can be directed
to the website, which is the typical use for a
link, but it can also send additional information
via email. This is a good way to send a recipe,
a how-to article, or other information that the
requestor would like to see in an email message.
Issuing unique customer coupons
A coupon can be sent as a reward for clicking
on a particular link. This is a good way to get
recipients to receive a benefit for taking the
time to visit the website, or participate in a
survey. A coupon code that is customer specific
can be pulled from the database to ensure that
the discount is applied only once. Some coupons
can be passed on to other people and used with
information pointing back to the original recipient
so they can receive some sort of credit for the
referral.
Username and password retrieval
Using RTER messages, the subscriber can automatically
retrieve username and password information stored
in the database using a click-through tracking
link. The information in the RTER is pulled from
the same database table from which the original
email was sent. When the user makes a request,
that information can be resent to them automatically,
and quickly. There is no reason to worry if the
user happens to forward that email to somebody
else, the new recipient will not receive the private
information.
There are countless uses for real time email
response messages. These are just a few of the
more popular examples. To discuss this feature,
