How Automatic Backups Work in Email Marketing Director and Campaign Enterprise

On rare occasions, the working files for Campaign Enterprise and Email Marketing Director experience problems that cause your program to lock up or work improperly. Each time Campaign Enterprise and Email Marketing Director start successfully, a back up of the working file, the campaign.sto file (and the campaignlists.sto file in EMD) is created and placed in the main program directory. The names of the back up campaign sto files end with bak.

If you experience a problem with your campaigns, or get an error stating that the some file cannot be found, it could be a problem with your campaign.sto (or the campaignlists.sto). If you experience problems with the .sto files, you can rename the campaign.sto to campaignOLD.sto, then rename the campaign.bak to campaign.sto. This should restore the last saved version of the file.

In addition to these back up features, you may want to set up a back up process for the entire CampaignEnterprise or EmailMarketingDirector folder, just in case. For the campaignlists.sto file in Email Marketing Director we recommend that you back it up again before importing extremely large lists of 100,000 records or more, just in case. The file is based on Access and may experience problems if the files size exceeds 1 GB.
