What exactly does Campaign Enterprise
do?
Primarily, the software creates and sends personalized
emails to your existing email list. In addition,
it offers a host of supporting features that are
necessary to efficiently run a successful permission
email marketing campaign, such as bounce handling,
unsubscribe handling, clickthrough tracking, campaign
automation and other features.
How does Campaign Enterprise work?
You download and install the software on your
own PC or server. You must tell Campaign Enterprise
how to connect to your database (where your email
list is stored) and which mail server to use for
delivering the outbound email. You access Campaign
Enterprise through any web browser, meaning that
you can use it either from the same machine on
which it was installed or from any other machine
that has Internet Explorer installed.
How does Campaign Enterprise handle clickthroughs,
opens, and unsubscribe requests?
Campaign Enterprise has its own built-in web server
technology that allows it to detect and respond
to these interactive events. You do NOT need a
web server (such as IIS) to run Campaign Enterprise,
everything is self-contained and easy to install.
Does Campaign Enterprise delete duplicate
emails?
No, the software does not manage your database
in this way. The correct way to manage duplicates
is to make sure they don't get added to your email
list in the first place. Your website's email
subscription process, for example, should disallow
duplicate subscribes. If you need to "clean"
your email list and remove duplicates, you'll
need to check with your database administrator
or, if you're using MS Access, run a wizard that
will do the job for you.
Does Campaign Enterprise modify my database?
Only if you want it to. Marking records as unsubscribed
or bounced, or recording clickthrough events,
REQUIRES records in your database to be updated.
Campaign Enterprise gives you total control over
how your database is updated based on interactive
events such as message opens, clickthroughs, bounces,
and so on. Campaign's Dataways Connector(TM) technology
has a solid ten years of R&D behind it, with
literally thousands of high-end corporate users
relying on it to connect to Oracle, SQL, Access
and other databases. It is robust, extremely fast,
and proven in the field.
In my outbound email messages, can I
include multiple links and track which links each
recipient clicks on?
Yes. The click behavior of each email
recipient is tracked and recorded in that person's
record in your source database. This updating
happens in real time, giving you an instant reflection
of the effectiveness of your email campaign. This
is a powerful permission email marketing feature
because it allows you to asks questions and learn
about the interests and preferences of your recipients.
Can I include pictures in the outbound
emails?
Absolutely. With Campaign Enterprise, you can
create high-end, personalized HTML messages that
look like web pages. You use standard HTML, so
you can use any HTML editor to create the messages
(Frontpage, Dreamweaver, etc.). Plus, with our
dynamic content feature, you can include different
pictures for each category of recipients based
on demographics, previous click behavior, or other
factors. This allows you to completely customize
and personalize each outbound message, all at
once.
How many lists or subscribers am I limited
to?
There is no limit. Every edition of Campaign Enterprise
supports an unlimited number of lists, projects
and subscribers.
How does Campaign Enterprise know what's
in my database? How does it know which field contains
the email address, for example?
You simply teach Campaign Enterprise
how to connect to your database. Once you choose
a table, Campaign Enterprise reads the table structure
and asks you to choose which field contains the
email addresses. You do NOT have to modify your
database in any way.
Does Campaign Enterprise send emails
in other character sets such as Chinese, Korean,
or Japanese?
Absolutely. With our character set selector,
you can have the email encoded in any character
set you wish. Clients around the world use Campaign
Enterprise to email recipients in dozens of languages.
How many merge fields am I limited to?
There is no limit. You can use as many merge fields
(personalization elements) in your messages as
you want. If you have 100 fields in your database
table, for example, you could insert all 100 fields
into each outbound message.
Does your software allow me to blast
a large email campaign without everybody's email
address showing up in everybody else's email?
Yes, each email is created and sent
individually, on a one-to-one basis. Recipients
never see other recipients' email addresses.
Does your software harvest email addresses
from the web?
Absolutely not. Email harvesting is a technique
used by spammers to unscrupulously gather email
addresses, and Campaign Enterprise has never --
and will never -- offer such features.
Can I run this software on my home computer
or office computer?
Absolutely. Campaign Enterprise runs on a virtually
all desktop PCs (windows XP strongly recommended).
You don't need a server to run the software. Performance
is outstanding even on medium-end systems. You
don't need a high-end server until you're sending
millions of emails per day.
Does your software include a "sniffer"
to automatically detect whether recipients can
receive HTML email?
The email "sniffer" is a myth,
a marketing gimmick used by companies who want
to sell you software based on a feature that doesn't
exist. Marketing
Sherpa recently ran an expose on this very
issue, where they called a software developer
offering a "sniffer" and asked how it
worked. The answer? There's no such thing, they
just claim they have a sniffer as a marketing
gimmick to sell more software. The truth is that
there is no technology that can automatically
detect whether people can receive HTML emails.
The solution is to send multipart emails containing
both HTML and plain text, and rely on the recipient's
email program to display the correct version.
Campaign Enterprise fully supports this solution.
Do you offer an API call function to
your software?
Not presently, but we are planning on adding API
functionality in the future.
Does our database need to reside on your
server?
Thankfully, no. You keep your database safe, exactly
where it is right now. That's one of the main
advantages of using Campaign Enterprise software
compared to email services: when you use software,
you never have to export your database and take
the risk of it being compromised. Instead, with
Campaign Enterprise, you simply install the software
on the same network as your database, then tell
Campaign how to connect to your database, which
tables to read, and so on.
How often can I send out emails?
As often as you like.
Can I install the software on more than
one computer?
The software is licensed on a per-CPU basis, so
you would need to purchase multiple licenses to
run it on multiple machines.
For multi-user versions, it is licensed
on a "per seat" or "concurrent
users" basis?
Concurrent users. A 5-user version allows up to
five people to log in at once and run up to 5
campaigns simultaneously. You could easily have
25 or more people "sharing" a 5-user
concurrent license.
Do you have a Mac version / Linux version?
No / No.
What type of reports does Campaign Enterprise
generate?
Each email campaign you send results in a detailed
report showing total emails sent, total bounced,
clickthrough counts for each link in your email,
sending speed, and other details. In addition,
individual events (such as clickthroughs and message
opens) are recorded in your source database, so
you can write your own detailed reports using
your database as the source for the report.
