Step
3 - Sending
Configure the Sending Options
-
Select the delivery option from the drop down
menu, SMTP Server, Multiple SMTP Servers or Direct
Mode.
- SMTP Server: Enter the domain name or
IP address of the SMTP server through which you
will be sending the mail. This will be pre-populated
with the domain name or IP address of the default
SMTP server you entered in the configuration screen.
Authenticate
if necessary
to log in to
the SMTP server.
- Multiple SMTP Servers): Enter the domain
name or IP address of each of the SMTP servers
through which you will be sending the mail. You
can specify up to ten servers which will rotate
sending the mail in batches. Note: This feature
is only available as an add on module.
- Direct Mode: Enter the domain name or
IP address of your Domain Name Server (DNS). Mail
will be delivered directly to the recipient mail
clients. Note: This feature is only available
as an add on module.
Header Email Addresses
-
From: specify from whom this mailing
is coming. This should be a valid email address.
Many remote mail clients will not accept mail
without a from address.
-
Return path: Enter the bounce account
you setup here. Example. bounce@yourdomain.com
This field is essential for handling bounces
as this is the address that will be used if the
message you send out cannot be delivered.
-
Reply to: This is the email address that
will be used when the recipient clicks "reply".
Scheduling
Advanced Settings
-
Database write-back: Use this feature
to write data to a specified field during the
sending process. An example is to have Campaign
update a column named "sent" (number/int,
default value 0) to increment. After the campaign
is complete all records sent will now have a
value of 1 in the "sent" column (specifying
how many emails they have been sent).
-
Bad Email Format Processing: Use this
feature in conjunction with the email filter
to update the selected field for records with
badly formatted email addresses.
-
Email filter: When checked, Campaign
will check the email field for badly formatted
email addresses and will not deliver them to
the SMTP server.
-
Continue to next record if there is an update
error: This will cause Campaign to continue
sending if there is a database write-back error.
Optional Settings
-
Word wrap: Specify word wrap parameters.
(This is usually handled by the recipients email
software).
-
Send __ seconds apart: If you specify
more than 0 it will lighten the load on the receiving
SMTP. However it will increase the time to send
out your mailing.
-
Set X-Header: You can insert a value
into the outgoing email header "X-value" with
label you specify.
