How to Run Campaign in Service Mode, (Run as a Service)

In order for Campaign Enterprise to serve up the interface pages, track click throughs and opens, the Campaign Enterprise executable must be running. Keeping Campaign Enterprise open on as an application can be a problem if you want to log off of the computer for the night. It is best to run it as a service on a server machine. With Campaign in service mode you will be able to track click throughs, opens, and POP check uninterrupted without having to be logged in as a user. If the server machine stops running (power outage, reboot, etc.) Campaign can restart automatically when the server restarts.

Enable Campaign Enterprise (or Campaign Mailer) to Run in service mode for Windows 2000, Windows NT:

Go to Services which can be found in Administrative Tools (Windows 2000) or Control Panel (Win NT)

Highlight Campaign Enterprise in the list of services

Go to Properties (right mouse click or click on the Properties button in the toolbar)

Service Properties, General Tab

Choose Automatic from the Startup Type drop down list

When Campaign Enterprise installs into the service feature of a Window operating system, it will install with Local system settings. It is best to be logged in as an 'administrator' when Campaign Enterprise is installed. Being installed under the administrator logins will enable Campaign Enterprise to start the processes that are required for it to run when in service mode. The processes Campaign Enterprise service will start, are the Campaign Enterprise application, the Sender process and the POP checking process. All of these processes are executable files. If there are any kind of limitations on a user, this will be reflected in the inability of Campaign Enterprise executables to function correctly.
