Campaign Enterprise Using Microsoft Exchange Server For Email Marketing

Using Microsoft Exchange Server For Email Marketing
Microsoft Exchange Server
One of the most important components for sending out email is the mail server (SMTP Server).  You can create the best email marketing campaign ever but without a reliable and intelligent mail server the email will never reach the recipient.

In one of the most popular mail systems available is Microsoft Exchange server. Exchange server is primarily a complete email management system but it can be used very effectively for sending out large quantities of emails if needed. Since Microsoft Exchange mostly links to Outlook and a web-based client, sending mass quantities of emails is something that Exchange server actually protects itself from doing. Exchange prevents or can cripple sending mass emails as part of it's defense mechanism by default, which is good, but it does cause sending email to that system difficult.  So, in order to effectively use Exchange Server to send out these email, you will need to remove the throttling or limiting agents in the software through the administration area.  Each version of SQL Server has its own variations of these protections that will need to be disabled for sending mass emails.  The good thing is that you can tell Exchange Server to specifically "let up" on a socket only used by Campaign Enterprise.  With this capability you don't have to compromise any other portion of the Exchange Server in order to get the sending functionality you need.

You can connect to an Exchange Server either using the SMTP socket setting and you can authenticate in Campaign Enterprise using Windows NTLM authentication.
